Director of Culture, Learning & People Development – Luxury Five-Star Hotel | Southern Africa

Our client is opening a luxury five-star hotel in Southern Africa with 250+ keys, multiple F&B outlets, and conference facilities for up to 2,000 delegates. We are seeking a hands-on and passionate Director of Culture, Learning & People Development to support the pre-opening and ongoing HR operations of the property (approx. 700 staff once fully operational).

The role will oversee the implementation and management of HR policies, culture initiatives, learning and development programmes, and overall people strategy across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• • Lead HR, culture, and learning strategy across the hotel
• • Implement and maintain HR policies and procedures
• • Oversee recruitment, training, succession planning, and employee development
• • Support industrial relations and HR administration
• • Drive a strong service culture and employee engagement strategy
• • Work closely with HODs to build high-performing teams
• • Ensure compliance, structure, and operational HR excellence

Key Requirements:

• • Prior African experience essential
• • Currently in a similar HR/People Development leadership role in a 4/5-star hotel
• • Minimum 3 years’ senior HR, Training, or L&D experience
• • Pre-opening hotel experience highly advantageous
• • Strong knowledge of HR practices including IR, recruitment, training, and succession planning
• • Strong business acumen and operational understanding
• • Calm, resilient, and able to perform under pressure
• • Hands-on, self-motivated, and proactive attitude
• • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• • Degree in Human Resources or related field
• • Fluent English required

Package:

• US$3,500 – US$4,000 net per month
