Director of Human Resources – Luxury Five-Star Hotel | Southern Africa

An exciting opportunity has arisen with the opening of a prestigious luxury five-star hotel in Southern Africa. The property features more than 250 guest rooms, multiple food and beverage venues, and extensive conference facilities capable of hosting up to 2,000 delegates.

The hotel is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead the Human Resources function during the pre-opening and operational phases. This position will oversee the implementation, development and ongoing management of all HR strategies, policies and people initiatives across the hotel. Once fully operational, the property will employ approximately 700 team members.

Key Requirements

  • Previous hospitality experience in Africa is essential.
  • Proven pre-opening Human Resources experience within a luxury four or five-star hotel.
  • Currently working in a senior Human Resources, People & Culture, Learning & Development or Training leadership role.
  • Minimum of three years' experience at department head level.
  • Calm, composed and confident leader with excellent judgement and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment, employee relations, industrial relations, performance management, succession planning and HR administration.
  • Passionate about employee engagement, learning, leadership development and workplace culture.
  • Commercially minded with strong business and financial awareness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluent English.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, coaching and leadership capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
  • Flexible and committed, with the willingness to work additional hours when operational demands require.
  • International hospitality experience will be highly regarded.
  • Up to date with contemporary HR legislation, best practices and emerging industry trends.
  • Highly organised with exceptional planning and attention to detail.
  • Maintains the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong computer literacy, including HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a related discipline.

Remuneration & Benefits

Net salary US$3500-4000 per month, negotiable based on experience.
