General Manager – New Luxury Hotel, Kampala, Uganda

Our client is developing a prestigious new luxury four-star hotel in Kampala, Uganda, one of East Africa’s key gateway and business destinations.

With 140 rooms, three signature restaurants and extensive conference and meeting facilities, the property is being positioned as a leading business and lifestyle destination in the region.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead the property through its pre-opening, opening and post-opening stages. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational expertise, financial discipline and proven experience in launching and establishing a high-end hotel.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a General Manager within a luxury or upscale hotel environment, ideally with 150+ rooms
• Proven senior leadership experience in hotel pre-openings, with previous project management experience highly desirable
• Previous experience in Africa is essential, with East African experience considered a significant advantage
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Hospitality Management or a related discipline
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with owners, investors, stakeholders, guests and business partners
• A strong professional network and the ability to actively develop commercial and business relationships
• Fluent English is essential
• Strong commercial and business acumen, with excellent financial management and cost-control capabilities
• Outstanding attention to detail and a highly organised approach
• Proven ability to problem-solve, prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• A hands-on leadership style, with the ability to think quickly and make sound decisions under pressure
• Strong experience leading and developing large, multicultural teams
• Excellent guest engagement and relationship-management skills
• A genuine passion for delivering high service standards and creating a successful luxury hotel operation

Salary up to US$8,000 net per month, depending on experience
